Seared scallops are one of the easiest seafood recipes you can make at home. If you are intimidated by cooking seafood, seared scallops are a great place to start! Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Ingredients
-2 tablespoons of butter
-2 cloves of garlic
-The juice of 1/2 a lemon
-1/4 cup of dry white wine
-Salt and pepper to taste
-2 pounds of scallops (fresh or frozen) (or 4-5 scallops per person you are serving)

Step-by-step directions for cooking seared scallops
1. Rinse scallops well under cold water. Pat dry
2. Melt butter in a good quality pan (cast iron works best!) Add in garlic and cook for a few minutes.
3. Add scallops to the pan. Sprinkle over salt and pepper.
4. After about 5 minutes, flip the scallops. *The trick to a good sear is if the scallop does not easily flip, it is not ready! Leave for an additional few minutes and try again.*
5. Season the other side with salt and pepper. Add in wine and lemon juice.
6. Let cook for an additional 4-5 minutes.
7. Serve and enjoy!

What to Serve Scallops with
We like to serve our seared scallops on top of a bed of rice pilaf, but you can also serve them with pasta or risotto. If you opt to skip the carbs, then fresh veggies will also do just fine!
