Are you interested in spicing up your traditional deviled egg recipe? The use of additional jalapenos and cayenne pepper in this recipe adds a spicy kick to these fiery deviled eggs.

Ingredients

  • 2 small jalapeno peppers, finely minced
  • 13 whole eggs, hard boiled
  • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp softened butter
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp original Tabasco sauce
  • 3 freshly chopped chives
  • ½ tsp ground cayenne pepper
  • Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Hard boil eggs and leave in ice water.
  • Peel eggs in ice water and rinse off any extra pieces of shell.
  • Cut in boiled eggs in half and carefully remove the cooked yolks from the cooked whites.
  • Reserve egg white halves for later while you prepare the filling.
  • For the filling, mix the egg yolks with the jalapenos peppers, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, olive oil, softened butter, lemon juice, 2 Tbsp chopped chives, and Tabasco sauce.
  • You can blend this egg yolks mixture in a food processor if you want a creamier end result with less texture.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with salt and freshly-ground black pepper.
  • Place the contents into a plastic piping bag.
  • Pipe the filling carefully into the center of the egg whites.
  • Sprinkle cayenne powder over the top of the filling. Sprinkle with remaining freshly chopped chives and serve.
