Chicken and Broccoli
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- 2 teaspoon cornstarch
For the Chicken and Broccoli:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 2-3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey or brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil (if using). Set aside.
- In another small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. This will be used to thicken the sauce later.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken pieces and stir-fry until they are cooked through and lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they become bright green and slightly tender.
- Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the broccoli.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and broccoli.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the pan to thicken the sauce.
- Stir everything together and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken and broccoli.
- Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the dish for garnish, if desired.
