The Perfect Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Breakfast Sandwiches

While these toppings are commonly seen atop a toasted bagel, this recipe substitutes the bagels with buttered & toasted ciabatta rolls.

Ingredients

  • 4 soft ciabatta sandwich rolls to make 4 sandwiches
  • 4 Tbsp softened butter
  • 8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese room temperature
  • 8 oz smoked salmon
  • 1/3 cup capers rinsed and drained
  • 2 medium tomatoes sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill leaves
  • ½ small red onion sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • Small pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Combine red onions with lime juice and a small sprinkle of salt
  • Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the ciabatta rolls in half and butter each side.
  • Bake until the rolls are golden in color and gently crispy on the exterior.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Spread cream cheese on the hot ciabatta, followed by smoked salmon, capers, tomatoes, dill, and red onion.
  • Serve sandwiches when the bread is still warm.
  • Serve open-faced or closed.

Notes

The amounts listed above for each ingredient can be adjusted according to taste.
